E se o mundo de Pokémon estivesse imerso no mundo distópico e apocalíptico de The Hunger Games? Nessa saga, cada geração doará seis de seus filhos para competirem entre si em um jogo sanguinário, traiçoeiro e visto em todas as nações fora do Capitólio Iridiano. Mas, não só de azar vivem os lutadores, o vencedor terá qualquer desejo seu realizado e a oportunidade de reivindicar melhorias para seus irmãos nacionais, além de uma influência mundial. Os jogos acontecem entre cada quatro anos, logo após a eleição do presidente do Capitólio, geralmente pessoas de conduta duvidosa e que mantêm a tradição presente há 100 anos. Por fim, Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola e Galar competirão uma com a outra, o chaveamento poderá ser arriscado e melhorar a condição de uma nação ou tornar tudo pior. Estratégia e, sobretudo, poder são necessários para vencer esse jogo e conquistar o lugar do Pássaro de Fogo.

No reino destruído de Valærian, os tributos de cada região precisarão mostrar sua força de vontade para sobreviver aos desafios impostos pelo Capitólio, lutarem entre si e contra o sistema vigente. Apesar do ódio que cada competidor nutre pelos administradores dos Jogos Vorazes, o ambiente desvirtua a realidade vivida, levando os jogadores ao extremo, real e surreal brincam com o imaginário de todos, desde público até escolhidos. Além disso, a existência de 12 arenas diferentes condiciona a experiência de certos desafiantes, alguns podem sofrer com as desvantagens ou se apossar da vantagem que recebeu, só não pode esquecer que cada ajuda é um golpe dado pelo Estado depois, tudo tem seu preço, até a ''sorte'' do momento. Ao final de cada Sucessão, alguns competidores com menos pontos serão descartados - assassinados, presos ou punidos de forma humilhante - para adiantar os rumos desse torneio até que os oito melhores sejam qualificados para o Jogo Final. O vencedor passará a ser conhecido como O Rouxinol da temporada, sua influência pode ditar os rumos dos próximos jogos, formas de governo e até mesmo a qualificação de certas cidades em novas nações, angariando apoio governamental às instâncias emancipatórias do povo.
